On August 11th, 2017, the Kiwanis Club of Cable Beach held its annual Antique Auto Show and Steak-out, an event that is highly anticipated by Kiwanis Bahamas and the Bahamian public at large.  Each year brings with it a new level of success and commitment and this year was no different.

Started in 1985, by the late Distinguished President Charles “C.J.” Johnson, this event is used to raise funds for the Charles Johnson Scholarship that is awarded to a well-deserved student at both the University of The Bahamas (UB) and The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute {BTVI)

This year thirty-two members of the club came together over a four-day period to prepare and serve two thousand (2,000) meals of chicken and steaks-.  Our grill master for the 2016-17 steak-out was one of our newer members, Kiwanian Anthony Crimes, who whipped up an amazing barbeque sauce that was to be envied.

Partnering with the club from inception is the Bahamas Antique Car Association, displaying more than thirty (30) Antique Cars and trucks from the 1950’s to early 70’s.  The public had a grand yet difficult time deciding on a winner, but in the end our very own Distinguished President Willard Aranha came out on top with a red 1965 Corvette.

Our SLP’s, as the focus of Kiwanis, participate in the event to help raise funds for their individual clubs.  This year we welcomed the Aktion Club of The Bahamas, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Forth Montague.

It is indeed a pleasure to serve both our community and our children in such a fun and exciting way.  The Antique Auto Show and Steak-out.  The Kiwanis Club of Cable Beach Signature Project.
